In the late 60’s, Val Carr founded Cicorel (London) Ltd, and
the fundamental principles on which the company was based are still
in place today. Attention to precise detail and accuracy, high standards
of work and quality assurance provided the foundations for a company
which is now working with leading suppliers in the scientific and
telecommunications instruments sectors.
Milestones of Development
1967 Cicorel (London) Ltd was founded by Val Carr, using his training
in watch and clock making. He began to make and sell
through-hole printed circuit boards within the UK, and designed
and manufactured the Cicorel patented rotary action test pin.
1975 Cicorel moved to Somerset, combining its expertise in established
techniques of precise work with new technologies.
1992 Continued growth led to a move in 1992 to larger premises
in Sherborne, Dorset.
1998 Val Carr retired and his son Robert succeeded him as Managing
Director.
2000 A new purpose-built engineering site was opened in Sherborne,
with investment in new machinery and an enlarged team
of experienced engineers.
2002 Cicorel achieved accreditation of ISO 9001/2000.
2004 Cicorel started began its association with Swiss fibre optic
specialists Diamond and became their UK representative.
