Elliot -

We were initially asked by Elliot Scientific, one of the world's leading suppliers of scientific instruments, to manufacture some small individual components for a high precision adjuster for use in manipulation equipment. The quality so impressed Elliot that by 1995 we were making every component in the adjuster and assembling it. Since then Cicorel has engineered much of the equipment and accessories for Elliot's range of Waveguide Manipulators, Fibre and Micro-positioning Devices. Cicorel also produces Piezo and High Precision Adjusters and XYZ Flexure Stages for the Elliot Gold series of Device/Waveguide Manipulators.

Optical fibre support tubes -

18 years ago Cicorel were asked to help solve a problem in the assembly of fibre optic connectors. The fibres needed to be threaded easily through a kovar support tube which was .8mm in diameter with a 0.2mm bore. The material was abrasive and the size very small. In order to do this Cicorel perfected a shaped countersink by grinding drills and manufacturing tools in house, using the watch making machinery and techniques. Over the years Cicorel have manufactured the fibre support tubes in various diameters, lengths and materials. The first of these tubes were used in the fibre optic cables laid between the UK and the USA and Australia. In later years they have been laid all over the world in communications packages for telephones, modems and cable TV.
